A Space Conceived with Intention

Rumah Hujan was designed and built by Maximilian Jencquel, founder of Studio Jencquel. His work has been featured internationally in Architectural Digest, ELLE Decor, Tatler and Design Anthology.

This was not a commission. Jencquel built Rumah Hujan as his own family home, working alongside a small team of Balinese craftspeople using reclaimed ironwood from an old bridge in Borneo, hand-cut lava stone and locally sourced timber. His vision was simple: a home, not a hotel. A place where guests could slow down, reconnect with nature and move at their own pace.

I first came to Rumah Hujan not as a guest, but as a friend — years before it opened its doors to visitors. I've been fortunate to experience many extraordinary places in Bali over the years, but for the inaugural Energy Alchemy retreat, my choice was immediate. It had to be here.

Your Home for Five Days

For the duration of the retreat, guests will have exclusive use of the entire Rumah Hujan Estate.

Set within lush tropical gardens overlooking the Wos River valley, the estate comprises two architect-designed residences — Rumah Hujan and Rumah Senja — thoughtfully positioned to create a balance of privacy, connection and flow.

Across the estate, guests will find six ensuite bedrooms, two saltwater swimming pools, expansive outdoor living spaces and a striking bamboo pavilion that serves as a place for movement, meditation, workshops and gathering.

Whether enjoying a quiet morning coffee overlooking the jungle canopy, relaxing beside the pool between sessions, or sharing conversation around the dining table in the evening, every space has been designed to support restoration, reflection and meaningful connection.
